Dear Scandinavian Airlines,
My name is Daniel. I am a 20 year old Norwegian and I live in Bergen. I am sending you this open letter to ask for a trip to visit the United States of America this Easters.
I am in a long distance relationship and I really want to see my girlfriend again before the summer. I am currently in my last semester in high school and so this would be my only option to travel until late June. I have flown with you 16 times in a row now the past 1.5 years with great satisfaction. I know 4 months will go by, we will make it. No question.
At the same time, the value and appreciation I would get from a trip now, is the reason why I am reaching out. The YouTube channel this video is uploaded to is over 4 years old. Through my videos I have helped and entertained over 100’000 people. Over the course of these years I have never asked my audience for money to pay for anything. I sold my video games and what I had of value to buy my computer and needed equipment.
I believe strongly in bringing my audience value, always, and let opportunities and benefits come second. I will never partner with anyone who would want me to move away from my values. While being focused on my studies, it’s difficult to save up money for further education as well as travelling.
I like your company and would like to recommend people to fly with you in the future. To explore the world. And meet new, important people in their lives.
Daniel Hammer, A True Traveler
Pinned comment on the video:
I’m aware of Scandinavian Airlines’ strict policies they adopted in 2013 to prevent corruption and bribery. Due to this, I was not actually going to make this video. Writing this “letter” was a way for me to process my feelings of being so far away from my loved one. Yesterday, I wanted to read it up to my girlfriend to let her know how was feeling and she had tears in her eyes when I was done reading. She said it was because she miss me deeply. I had initially thought that if I was to make a video of this letter that I made, I would ask her about it first and hear what she thought of the idea. After I read it to her yesterday she said it wouldn’t do any harm to try.
I wanted to include my audience in this story, which is why I decided to make it a video like this, instead of sending a letter directly. It is also 5 weeks away and formal communication tend to take a long time. Including my audience in the process is what felt to me as the right thing to do, if I am ever to work together with Scandinavian Airlines or any other company in the future for that matter.

Ask to pay (raise money) vs. give the option to support is not the same.
Whether or not people want to support me through services like Patreon is totally optional and it would not have any impact in my ability to continue with content creation. The $5000 I spent on equipment, $100 every month spent on services and software and the hundreds and hundreds of hours that has been put into this channel is rarely, if ever mentioned. This is a subtlety that I hope you are able to identify.
A special thanks to Fabster Cola and Bendu from our Discord server NPC HQ for helping with translating this video to Dutch and Spanish respectively.

nirthpanter.net has been going through some big changes this week and I also want to start writing more. There are more resources to be found now, I want to review more books and also add more things to the RECOMMENDED page in the coming time.
I used to have this page called Hall of Fame where I wrote about people I admired or appreciated. I have still a HALL OF FAME page, but this is now the archive of all live viewer battles done on the nirthpanter YouTube channel. My solution is that I'd like to make a weekly blog post called Feature Friday where I feature 1-3 YouTube creators I think are doing a good job or that has an interesting story behind them. I will start the first article hopefully this coming Friday (16th of February), but I have a lot to do this week at school and so we'll se how that goes.
Next Saturday, February 17, it's my birthday and I'd like to do a longer birthday stream. This will start at 6:00 PM GMT+1 / 12:00 PM EST. I am unsure completely what I'd like to do for this livestream, but I will have a birthday hat on and I'm likely going to do viewer battles.
Have you had a look at the changes on the website this week? @Flipside on Discord helped me out with looking at some details and I appreciate that. I hope you all have had a good weekend.
Thanks for reading,
I'm passing 10'000 Subscribers on my nirthpanter YouTube channel today. I started at 0 Subscribers November 2013.
Bring value to your audience and good will come out of that. I am excited that I've been able to help and entertain so many people the past +4 years. In fact, the channel has been viewed by more people than I will ever meet in person for my whole life. That is crazy to me. It was almost exact at the same time: 10000 Subscribers and 4M total channel views. Hard work an dedication, combined with the intent to bring your audience value is the way to go.
I've added a screenshot of my 2nd channel. I intend to share experiences, thoughts and other things I would not do elsewhere across my profiles. The pretty colors are actually a picture of a sunset my girlfriend saw in the US. I asked if I could use it as my Channel Art and I'm happy I could use it like this.
The funny thing is that I don't feel I've even started. What I like a lot is to make videos that can help people somehow or teach them something useful. I really like video editing and at this point in time I rarely play around in Adobe Premiere Pro, which is the video editing software I use. I look forward to 2018. I hope GAME FREAK will be happy with the game they are developing for the Nintendo Switch and that I can continue to making useful video guides on YouTube.
I plan on completely redo the whole strategy. That I will make video guides like I've done in the past won't change. I would like to be more consistent with expanding my BEST VIDEOS playlist and also with the livestreams. I feel bad for the lack of effort I've put into my Patreon page and am working on how to fix that.
Thank you for reading,
I've recently wanted to change up my way of going about Patreon. I'd like it to be a place for some previews as for what is to come, but I make my posts public so that everyone can see. I think Patrons are the only ones who can comment on those directly, so if you have any feedback you can hit me up on twitter, on Discord on by my email: firstname.lastname@example.org
The reason is that I'd like to give back more to those who make it possible for me to make more and better quality content for everyone. That there are currently 4 people who believe in my work to the point of wanting to support me financially means a lot. I'd like to show proper appreciation for that.
Right now there is a post over at Patreon discussing the idea of having a Pokemon Trivia series on my channel and I'd like some input on what peolpe would think of that. I have 5 topics that I'd like to make into videos and I also want to make videos based on suggestions from you!
At last I'd like to challenge myself and invite other content creators and ask them if they'd like to work together on a pair of videos. I'd like to work together with Ozzymitsu, Barnaby, Mr Buddy and Bird Keeper Toby at some point.
If you are to head over to Patreon and read the post I'd be very happy!
Thank you so much for reading!
Things are starting to happen. School started about two weeks ago and I've been trying to get ahead to make myself more able to spend time on my NirthPanter stuff. As of now I am remaking my guide template and trying to make everything more efficient so I can make more and better quality content for everyone. Today I've done a couple changes to nirthpanter.net which you can see below. There have been a whole bunch of updates since my first post!

Discord now has the three unique emojis as shown in the picture! Patreon has had some major changes. There is now a single tier and new rewards. I want Patreon to be a place for people to support towards more and better quality content for everyone. Patrons are therefore someone who should be thanked by everyone, no matter what they want to contribute with as for amount.
UPDATES across all NirthPanter accounts
- Discord now has three emojis
- Patreon has had major changes. This includes a single tiers and new rewards
The Pokemon explained series has now gotten new titles, descriptions and tags! I wouldn't make a post like this for any little change like that, but this is no little change. After spending 250 to 300 hours making the 7 first videos I am happy that I finally, almost a year after I begun working on it, found a way I liked the titles to be as well as the descriptions. The top section of the description now has a long summary of what the video is about and the rest of the description is now just in general a lot a lot a lot better. I am happy with that and excited to make some new episodes for the series sometime!
UPDATES on YouTube
- Pokemon Explained now have updated titles, descriptions and tags. Hopefully this will help with the discovery of these videos.
Be your very best, until next time!
Recently I've been spending some time thinking and redoing a lot of my graphics, in fact, I am trying to rebrand the channel. The new graphics and layouts will likely be live everywhere within two months, but you can see some of them now already. Especially here on the website. I want to make a shift in the general atmosphere in my content and also how I present myself and my channel to my viewers in the videos themselves, as well as everything around the videos. I've made a new NPC logo and I want to make that a t-shirt design in not too long. I am playing around with some soft colors and relaxing pictures and some neat new music to use in videos and I think these changes will be good for the time coming. The past time I've also learned a whole lot when it comes to SEO, decsription structure, general YouTube facts and tips and best practises and also in design. I am excited to see everything put together. I have also bought a new HD webcam so that you can see me more and also a new stand for my microphone (this I am very happy for as the other one was so used up it was about to fall apart - even with some first-second-third-and-fourth-aid with duck tape). Right now I am just hoping my microphone did not break when I tried carrying it with me when I left home for the summer, as I had it in my bag and my bag flipped down from the counter :'( Anyways, thanks for reading and be your very best, until next time :) Daniel out

UPDATES in general
- New HD webcam
- New microphone stand
- I am working on design and rebrand and have learned a lot about SEO, YouTube and design.
If you have visited the website the past few days, you will have noticed some big changes here around. The menu now makes sense, it is well organized and its pages have been remade as well. As of now I have edited all pages except the Hall of Fame page, which I intend to redo at some point. I will be trying to use the BLOG page as a center for all texts and actively use the Categories section in order to keep posts organized. For a long time now I've wanted to write articles about Pokemon and other things that I find interesting and the categories section will allow this I recently discovered.
