I have met some of my favorite people in the YouTube comment section.
A thing to remember is that there is a person on the other side. Another thing to think about is that we humans are excellent finders and problemsolvers. Therefore, you should be very careful with where you put your focus. I recommend positivity and kindness.
I recently shared a post on Instagram about how I met my girlfriend in the comments of a YouTube video. I had heard stories of people doing that, but never believed it fully until it happened to myself. There are people on the other side of the communication. They can be kind and positive, or they can be bad an harmful. Your own attitude will be the guiding light that will attract like-minded people. The rest you may attract you need to identify and cut out of your life. You only have so much time - and I personally highly prefer to spend that time with people I care for.
Today I realized that I met another friend in the YouTube comments, that made me meet another new friend and it is very exciting. Yesterday I also realized how insanely cool it is to be able to help people in their Pokemon games and get to talk to many different people that way. I reply to comments on YouTube. In fact, I try to get to all of them! And at this point in time, I read and reply to the comments I see in my YouTube Studio App. I am unsure if this will continue like this forever, as my audience grows, but I will always want to interact with people and bring the most value to them as I can.
I hope you enjoyed this post and are having a good weekend.
Thank you for reading,
I did not use Vine to its full potential. I did, however, make this back in the day
It's crazy to think back to now that I'd just take a backflip in the living room like that haha.
I'm planning on making content for V2 and I'm looking forward to see what crazy creative people we will get to see and what new celebrities will come from it!!
Thanks for reading,
Dear Scandinavian Airlines,
My name is Daniel. I am a 20 year old Norwegian and I live in Bergen. I am sending you this open letter to ask for a trip to visit the United States of America this Easters.
I am in a long distance relationship and I really want to see my girlfriend again before the summer. I am currently in my last semester in high school and so this would be my only option to travel until late June. I have flown with you 16 times in a row now the past 1.5 years with great satisfaction. I know 4 months will go by, we will make it. No question.
At the same time, the value and appreciation I would get from a trip now, is the reason why I am reaching out. The YouTube channel this video is uploaded to is over 4 years old. Through my videos I have helped and entertained over 100’000 people. Over the course of these years I have never asked my audience for money to pay for anything. I sold my video games and what I had of value to buy my computer and needed equipment.
I believe strongly in bringing my audience value, always, and let opportunities and benefits come second. I will never partner with anyone who would want me to move away from my values. While being focused on my studies, it’s difficult to save up money for further education as well as travelling.
I like your company and would like to recommend people to fly with you in the future. To explore the world. And meet new, important people in their lives.
Daniel Hammer, A True Traveler
Pinned comment on the video:
I’m aware of Scandinavian Airlines’ strict policies they adopted in 2013 to prevent corruption and bribery. Due to this, I was not actually going to make this video. Writing this “letter” was a way for me to process my feelings of being so far away from my loved one. Yesterday, I wanted to read it up to my girlfriend to let her know how was feeling and she had tears in her eyes when I was done reading. She said it was because she miss me deeply. I had initially thought that if I was to make a video of this letter that I made, I would ask her about it first and hear what she thought of the idea. After I read it to her yesterday she said it wouldn’t do any harm to try.
I wanted to include my audience in this story, which is why I decided to make it a video like this, instead of sending a letter directly. It is also 5 weeks away and formal communication tend to take a long time. Including my audience in the process is what felt to me as the right thing to do, if I am ever to work together with Scandinavian Airlines or any other company in the future for that matter.

Ask to pay (raise money) vs. give the option to support is not the same.
Whether or not people want to support me through services like Patreon is totally optional and it would not have any impact in my ability to continue with content creation. The $5000 I spent on equipment, $100 every month spent on services and software and the hundreds and hundreds of hours that has been put into this channel is rarely, if ever mentioned. This is a subtlety that I hope you are able to identify.
A special thanks to Fabster Cola and Bendu from our Discord server NPC HQ for helping with translating this video to Dutch and Spanish respectively.
If you want to know more about what the rose means you can have a look at this Instagram post: https://www.instagram.com/p/BehdL0oAkd_/?taken-by=nirthpanter
nirthpanter.net has been going through some big changes this week and I also want to start writing more. There are more resources to be found now, I want to review more books and also add more things to the RECOMMENDED page in the coming time.
I used to have this page called Hall of Fame where I wrote about people I admired or appreciated. I have still a HALL OF FAME page, but this is now the archive of all live viewer battles done on the nirthpanter YouTube channel. My solution is that I'd like to make a weekly blog post called Feature Friday where I feature 1-3 YouTube creators I think are doing a good job or that has an interesting story behind them. I will start the first article hopefully this coming Friday (16th of February), but I have a lot to do this week at school and so we'll se how that goes.
Next Saturday, February 17, it's my birthday and I'd like to do a longer birthday stream. This will start at 6:00 PM GMT+1 / 12:00 PM EST. I am unsure completely what I'd like to do for this livestream, but I will have a birthday hat on and I'm likely going to do viewer battles.
Have you had a look at the changes on the website this week? @Flipside on Discord helped me out with looking at some details and I appreciate that. I hope you all have had a good weekend.
Thanks for reading,
This is a past Patreon post that I wanted to archive. I shared some thoughts on how I wanted Patreon to work and now I've put together a different approach to it. You can have a look at the Patreon page as it is now here:
I want to improve the use of Patreon
I'd like to improve the use of Patreon. I've mentioned this earlier, but I'd like to come up with a system that allows me to bring more value to those of you who want to support me like this.
Things that I'm thinking about:
I've wanted to have a 1 Tier Page, but I'm realizing that it may be important to make a separate tier for those of you who have pledged over $5, or even $10. I'm thinking of ways I can do that.
Up until now I've been very strict on the thought of not wanting Patreon to act as a money wall. I've come to realize that because you can pay for rewards you wouldn't get else-wise does not mean that people won't have a way to contact me. It's just about how it's done, with the right intent. I will still want to reply to a lot of the comments on YouTube, even when I see I'm on the limit of what I can possibly manage at this point in time. And people who come to the livestreams are able to chat and I find fun in talking to people there.
I know that the Patreon page can be used as a crowd-funding page, but I want to make it so that it brings the people who support something more back. I need to specify the goal of what the Patreon pageis supposed to accomplish, other than to cover my software-expenses. I believe that can be secondary. And so that's why I've been thinking about all this.
Thanks for reading,
I'm working on my nirthpanter profiles and there have been some big changes on Patreon recently. I've deleted all earlier posts and want to start new and fresh. This post is to archive a blog post I did on Patreon to thank Patrons for their support last year.
This post is to thank Patrons.
I wanted to say that I appreciate that you want to support me. I am very thankful for that you believe in me as a Content Creator and decided to become a Patron. There are a couple rewards and I have tried to think out of the box and be creative with them and I hope to make that better in them better in the fufure.
Is there something you feel is missing on this page? What would you like to improve? I'd like to start having a weekly livestream after Christmas where I can take battle requests and we could shiny hunt together. Patrons, as you may know, will be increased in the waiting list.
This past month I've made close to 300 videos on the channel. About 50-60 of these are scheduled to go live so that there will be a new how to video up every day until 19th of January 2018. These are videos that most people at this point in time are not very interested in, so I've made them and scheduled them like this to hopefully let it have a positive impact in the overall channel performance.
I have recently been thinking a lot about wanting and how to make a template for a more edited series on the channel. I know what I want to make, but I'm working on the details when it comes to efficiency and value for the people watching.
I've come to realize a lot of content creators take their audience's attention for granted and that is something I'd like to change. People's intention on YouTube are more than often selfish in the Pokemon Community and that is something I want to stay away from.
I'd like to make a series or show on the channel that would be possible for me to do weekly, where people can vote for the topic of future episodes. I would want to make it to where there is tangible knowledge and trivia that you can use and have fun with from the Pokemon games, and each episode would feature a Pokemon chosen by viewers. I would do exclusive Patreon Polls for that too.
It's difficult to make a time-out style of video with a Pokemon theme and that's what I'd like it to be.
At last, in this post, I've included some screenshots from the channels performance the past month or so. The Dashboard screenshot is probably the most interesting one. The past 15 days there's been about 350000 views on the channel. I also have the Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon playlist as I mentioned in the beginning of this post - where all the close to 300 videos will be in, a lot are scheduled and will be added automatically as the respective videos are published.
Let me know if you have any questions of if there's something you'd like me to add on.
Oh! Also, I've been trying really hard to figure out at what point I would get access to the Community Tab as this would really help me out when most of my videos are video guides and won'¨t be put in people's Subscription Feeds and it turns out you need 10000 Subscribers in order to unlock that... so that may not happen for a long while or at all.
Thank you for reading! ~
I'm passing 10'000 Subscribers on my nirthpanter YouTube channel today. I started at 0 Subscribers November 2013.
Bring value to your audience and good will come out of that. I am excited that I've been able to help and entertain so many people the past +4 years. In fact, the channel has been viewed by more people than I will ever meet in person for my whole life. That is crazy to me. It was almost exact at the same time: 10000 Subscribers and 4M total channel views. Hard work an dedication, combined with the intent to bring your audience value is the way to go.
I've added a screenshot of my 2nd channel. I intend to share experiences, thoughts and other things I would not do elsewhere across my profiles. The pretty colors are actually a picture of a sunset my girlfriend saw in the US. I asked if I could use it as my Channel Art and I'm happy I could use it like this.
The funny thing is that I don't feel I've even started. What I like a lot is to make videos that can help people somehow or teach them something useful. I really like video editing and at this point in time I rarely play around in Adobe Premiere Pro, which is the video editing software I use. I look forward to 2018. I hope GAME FREAK will be happy with the game they are developing for the Nintendo Switch and that I can continue to making useful video guides on YouTube.
I plan on completely redo the whole strategy. That I will make video guides like I've done in the past won't change. I would like to be more consistent with expanding my BEST VIDEOS playlist and also with the livestreams. I feel bad for the lack of effort I've put into my Patreon page and am working on how to fix that.
Thank you for reading,
I decided to make a video thanking the YouTube user named a Bear for his nice feedback. Today I have been a bit frustrated over the fact that over 50 of my videos have been marked as 'not advertiser friendly' and I've put in a lot of time and effort into the making of this video. In the video I asked and hoped that I have brought you any value with what I have done.
Thank you for reading!
I recently had a longer YouTube comment thread with a nice person called Darren Cooper. He commented on the 'Pokemon: Shiny Breeding Odds Explained for Pokemon Gold and Silver' video asking about the odds of hatching a Shiny Miltank using a Shiny Rattata and a normal Miltank, who are both in the Field Egg Group. A shiny Pokémon will pass down its shinyness to the opposite gender offspring, and in this case 100% of the Eggs will be female (Miltank can only be female). This gives 1 in 64 odds.
Talking to Cooper, he eventually posted a rather in-depth and interesting comment about his hunts as a Shiny Hunter. I found this to be quite interesting and worth posting on this blog and create a new written kind of post: NPC Spotlight - to highlight cool NPC Members.
The following paragraphs has been rewritten to make it easier to read.
"To be honest, my 180+ shinies also counts some of them I have evolved to the next stage, as I raised some of them. My favorite game where I found the most shinies was Pokemon Omega Ruby. I accidentally found a shiny Vulpix and Shuppet by using the DexNav oevr and over again to hunt got a Vulpix that had 3 star potential IVs and its Hidden Ability Drought. At a chain of around 160 without a Shin Charm I found it. It was way early, like the day of the game's release so there was not any information about being able to shiny hunt using the DexNav - everything I read said that it would not help you to find a shiny at all! And after my Vulpix I tried hunting for a strong Shuppet that had 3 star potential and its Hidden Ability, and half asleep, I found one that I thought looked kind of different (I had my eyes closed while it's shiny intro happened so I was not sure if it was shiny and after I caught it I saw it was), then I was sure DexNav had increased shiny odds.
After that I beat the game, traded and transferred Pokémon to complete the Pokédex and got the shiny charm. I began hunting for Pokémon that I wanted shiny. I bought lots of Poké Balls and Super Repels and caught just about every Pokémon I thought looked awesome shiny. I had a couple setbacks - my battery dying before I saved, and even my 1st kiddo when he was very little, knocking my phone out of my hand and it falling on my 3DS just right to hit the RUN button when I was trying to catch a shiny Pikachu... I took pictures and videos of every shiny I caught to relive how bad ass it was, and to also send pictures to my friend who was also shiny hunting, though with much less success lol. Once I caught all the ones I wanted, there were others I really wanted, but could not get unless I bred them, so I got good use of my shiny charm and Pokémon from different regions.
I started breeding for shinyies and I went through +999 Eevee Eggs and no luck. Eventually I got my shiny Eevee - 3 to be exact - which are now Espeon, Umbreon and Sylveon respectively, but these I got from hunting using the DexNav near Rustboro City. By breeding, I have gotten Charmander, Fennekin, Staryu, Tepig, Rowlet, Poplio and a few others. By accident, I once found a shiny Doduo in Pokémon SoulSilver and the following day I also found a shiny Ursaring! In Pokémon Sun and Moon I accidentally found Paras, Staryu and Magikarp. And at last in the Silver Virtual Console I found the shiny Rattata. In my opinion there's nothing better than finding a shiny by accident.
I like SOS chainng, but I honestly HATE the new shiny intro, where it just flashes a big yellow star. My favorite was the cirle of blue stars. It's badass looking. Of my Omega Ruby I have a vouple videos of my encounters where I found a shiny Clefairy and a shiny Maril. I have about +700 hours in my Omega Ruby now. I have also played the games over and over again in the hope I'd find another shiny. And to this day I have never found PokéRus."
After this he replied to me not long after and told me he got the shiny Miltank after 38 Eggs, so that is exciting! He thanked me for the encouragement and information and that was the gamechanger.
I want to thank Darren Cooper for the nice conversation we had in the YouTube comments and I hope you enjoyed reading!
Do you have a mission in life? A dream in life you want to accomplish? Today I wanted to share my own personal goal and start a discussion around this topic here on Facebook and hopefully get to talk to some new people.
It's been a personal goal of mine, the past 5 years, that one day I want to become the best parent I can possibly be. I am working hard on myself to get educated on important things in life and strive to become as open-minded and respectful towards others as I can.
Life itself is an interesting phenomenon and one better make the most out of it while it lasts. I want to become a good parent and have a nice family. Being a content creator will allow me to work from home and bring people value through my video content around my passion.
My three biggest interests are YouTube, video editing and Pokémon. These work very well together in content creation. I aspire to become the best Pokémon video guide creator of all and on my journey towards that goal I want to help, entertain and inspire as many as I can. I have had an interesting life so far and I don't think that will change. It's about the journey and right now I am enjoying doing my best in making my dream come true.
If you have a dream you try to accomplish in life, feel free to share that in the comments of this post and I'd be very happy to talk to you. Have a nice day, morning or evening depending on where you are in the world!
